Why?
ATA Int´l. Corp. (ATA) is bringing smart innovative technology to produce high quality drinking water to millions of people in the Dominican Republic (D.R) at a lower price and opportunities for thousands of single mothers, which are 75% of women in the D.R, to create small businesses in urban and rural areas, in collaboration with Christian organizations and churches.
98% of the population in the Dominican Republic consume bottled water, that´s 9.8 million people. Prices vary widely, depending on quality and point of sale.
During our trip to the DR, we met many Dominican women, like Tata, a hardworking single mother of two with a low paying job, who purchases low-quality contaminated water from trucks “cisterna” that are very popular in the D.R´s poor neighborhoods because they sell their low-quality water at a lower price (US$.80) than the big name brand companies (US$1.65).
Besides the “cisterna” trucks, there are approximately 300 out of 500 water bottling companies that operate illegally and sell low-quality water endangering public health, especially that of low-income families.
OUR SOLUTION!
With our ATA Smart Water Machines with Solar Energy, we will provide high-quality water to low-income families like Tata´s at a more affordable price, while we help single mothers create thousands of jobs and small businesses around the country, who otherwise would not dream of having their own businesses.
The minimum wage in the D.R is USD$175/month. These businesses will provide single moms with at least three times that minimum wage, a very good income that will improve the family´s standard of living.
The Country has a poor energy infrastructure with huge energy shortage. Most of the neighborhoods get their energy cut-off several hours a day, that´s a big challenge for any business.
Our solution: the solar system installed to the ATA Smart Water Machines. The solar system will allow our machines to dispense purified water, while the city grid is cut-off, thus providing a great competitive advantage to our Dominican entrepreneurs.

ATA ALREADY INVESTED!
We already purchased 4 machines from http://crystalstreamer.com, who have been in the water business for more than 15 years and it´s collaborating with us in the project.
ATA installed a solar system on each of the 4 machines to make them more energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
These four ATA Water Machines were already shipped to the Dominican Republic on July 23th, 2017 to be installed to start the first 4 high-quality water businesses.
We intend to repeat this operation many times over, meaning we will purchase 4 machines with solar systems at a time to assist thousands of single moms in establishing their own business, they will pay back for the equipment in 10 years and will not need a down payment to start their business. The single mothers are endorsed/recommended by the church and the machines serve as collateral for the loan.
Note: This would certainly help avoid emigration to the United States, more than 2 million Dominicans have emigrated to the United States since 1960.

Besides the actual water machine, ATA Int´l. Corp. provides the woman entrepreneur with technical, finance and business training as well as a legally licensed operation so that she´s not trapped in the informal sector.
The unemployment rate in the Country averages 12.5% since 2000 till know. At the end of 2017, it was 5.12%. But as you know unemployment rates do not count the number of people who “have given up looking for a job”. So, the reality is that millions of women have lost hope to find a job and have stopped looking. Most single moms are either unemployed or under-employed.

The story behind ATA Int´l, Corp Water Machines
The four of us met among an exceptional group of individuals through a Professional Networking Group in Miami, Florida, US. The four of us are all entrepreneurs who share the same insane idea of making the world a better place. This gave us the motivation to start ATA Int´l. Corp. to produce solar equipment in our plant for different water purifying machines. So far, the journey has been inspiring, taxing and tremendous. We have learned to fail fast and fail forward, but more importantly that the key is to keep believing!
